The H. V. McKay Charitable Trust provides funding on application to projects meeting the criteria listed on the home page. Preferred applicants would be small organisations or individuals with a rural or regional base. Examples of projects funded over the years include:
- New disability access facilities
- Literacy programs for disadvantaged communities
- Monitoring weed species and research into the effects of salinity on germination, growth and yield of cowpea
